  44. Using PMMail 2000 with PMMail for OS/2
  45. =====================================================

  47.       If you are using PMMail 1.95 for OS/2 and
  48.    would like to cross-grade to, or use PMMail for
  49.    OS/2 in cooperation with, PMMail 2000, please
  50.    read the following.  If PMMail for OS/2 is
  51.    installed on an HPFS partition and you are
  52.    using Windows 95 or 98, you will need to copy
  53.    the PMMail for OS/2 data and program files to
  54.    a FAT partition.  If you are using Windows NT
  55.    there are ways to access HPFS partitions.  You
  56.    can find information about accessing HPFS
  57.    partitions from Windows NT in the PMMail 2000
  58.    FAQ on our web site (http://www.blueprintsoftwareworks.com).
  59.    Once you can access your PMMail for OS/2 data,
  60.    simply install PMMail 2000 to the same directory.
  61.  
  62.    NOTE:  If you are running a version of PMMail/2
  63.    earlier than version 1.95, you must install
  64.    version 1.95 or higher under OS/2 and run it
  65.    before running PMMail 2000 from the OS/2 
  66.    installation directory.  This is because older 
  67.    releases of PMMail for OS/2 had platform specific 
  68.    formats which are automatically converted by
  69.    1.95 or later, the first time they are run.

  72. Backing up your PMMail 2000 data
  73. =====================================================
  74.  
  75.        It is very important to periodically back up
  76.    your PMMail 2000 data.
  77.  
  78.        If you wish to back up your PMMail 2000 data,
  79.    there are a few things you should keep in mind.
  80.  
  81.    * To back up the data for an account, locate
  82.      the account directory (ending in ".ACT") and
  83.      copy it to your backup media.  
  84.    * To back up a single folder, locate the folder
  85.      directory.  A folder directory is located
  86.      within the account directory of which the folder
  87.      is a part.  Folder directories always end in 
  88.      ".FLD".  Once you have located this directory, 
  89.      copy it to your backup media.
  90.    * To backup your address books and other related
  91.      files, copy all of the files in the TOOLS
  92.      directory.  This directory belongs to the same
  93.      parent directory as the PMMail 2000 directory.
  94.      Copy all files and folders within the tools 
  95.      directory to your backup media with the
  96.      exception of dictot.* and dipthong.*.  These
  97.      are dictionary files which are installed by
  98.      PMMail 2000.

  100.        To restore files from a backup, copy the files
  101.    from your backup media into the directory from 
  102.    which you backed them up.

  105. Mailing list information
  106. =====================================================

  108.        In the future, Blueprint Software Works will be setting up
  109.    a public mailing list to allow PMMail 2000 users
  110.    to discuss PMMail 2000, tips, tricks, problems, and
  111.    general questions.  Stay tuned to the PMMail 2000

  116. Migration from other mail clients
  117. =====================================================

  119.        PMMail 2000 can migrate your e-mail data from
  120.    several popular e-mail clients.  These clients
  121.    and notes about PMMail 2000's ability to migrate
  122.    data from them are listed below.
  123.  
  124.    * Microsoft Internet Mail - You may migrate
  125.      messages, folders, account information, and
  126.      address books.  Note that folders will lose
  127.      their names as Microsoft stores these names in
  128.      a proprietary file that PMMail 2000 cannot
  129.      understand.
  130.  
  131.    * Microsoft Outlook Express - You may migrate
  132.      messages, folders, account information, and
  133.      address books.  Note that folders will lose
  134.      their names as Microsoft stores these names in
  135.      a proprietary file that PMMail 2000 cannot
  136.      understand.
  137.  
  138.    * Netscape Mail - You may migrate messages, 
  139.      folders, account information, and address 
  140.      books.  A note to Netscape 2.02 users for OS/2:
  141.      this migrator cannot auto detect the presence
  142.      of your Netscape for OS/2 installation.  You
  143.      will need to use the "Add Mailer" option.
  144.      When migrating Netscape for OS/2, account
  145.      information cannot be migrated.
  146.  
  147.    * Netscape Messenger - You may migrate
  148.      messages, folders, account information, but
  149.      not address books.  Netscape stores these 
  150.      addresses in a proprietary file that PMMail 2000
  151.      cannot understand.
  152.  
  153.    * Qualcomm Eudora 3.0 and 4.0 - You may migrate
  154.      messages, folders, account information, and
  155.      address books.

  157. =====================================================
  158. Unique or easily missed features
  159. =====================================================
  160.  
  161.        PMMail 2000 contains many features that set
  162.    it apart from other e-mail clients.  Some of 
  163.    these features may not be blindingly apparent.
  164.    Several of these features are listed below.
  165.  
  166.    * Clicking the right mouse button in an
  167.      entryfield which is expecting an e-mail address
  168.      will produce a popup menu with many addressing
  169.      options.
  170.    * Selecting a block of text in a message read 
  171.      window and clicking the right mouse button
  172.      will produce a popup menu summarizing the web
  173.      links and e-mail addresses contained in that
  174.      block of text.
  175.    * Manual use of canned replies.  Once you have
  176.      configured a few canned replies, they can be
  177.      used in filters.  Few people know that pressing
  178.      the right mouse button in the body text area of
  179.      a compose window will produce a popup menu with
  180.      a list of your canned replies.  Selecting one
  181.      will insert the text of that canned reply in
  182.      the message body.
  183.    * The ability to create very complex filters
  184.      using Blueprint Software Works's Internet Content Search 
  185.      Language (ICSL for short).  You can find more
  186.      information about this in the on-line help.
  187.    * Our "Filter Builder" will assist you in creating
  188.      filters.  It is also a good tool to use to
  189.      learn the ICSL.
  190.    * The "Help" menu on the main screen provides a
  191.      quick way to get to Blueprint Software Works's web site.
  192.    * If you highlight text while reading a message
  193.      and then hit reply, only the highlighted text
  194.      will be quoted.
  195.    * Drag and drop.  You can use drag and drop to
  196.      file your e-mail messages, move folders, attach
  197.      files to messages, move addresses, and address
  198.      messages (drag and drop an address onto an
  199.      address list).
  200.    * Context menus on attachments
  201.    * When you get new mail, the PMMail 2000 tray icon
  202.      will flash to indicate the presence of new mail.
  203.    * Clicking with the right mouse button on the tray
  204.      icon is very handy.  When you have new mail, it
  205.      will show a popup menu containing all of your
  206.      new mail messages for quick reading.  Anytime,
  207.      whether you have new mail or not, you get a
  208.      menu of all of your accounts with the option to
  209.      fetch mail, create a new message, or open 
  210.      remote control.

  213. Purchasing PMMail 2000

  216.        To purchase PMMail 2000, select the "Help" menu
  217.    from the main screen.  Then, select the "Register
  218.    PMMail 2000" menu.  Finally, select the "Purchase
  219.    PMMail 2000" menu option.  This will bring up the
  220.    PMMail 2000 Purchase Wizard.  This wizard will walk
  221.    you through purchasing PMMail 2000 using the most
  222.    common methods.

  226.    such as foreign currency or an order for multiple

  230. PMMail 2000 license information

  233.        You are permitted to use the demonstration
  234.    version of PMMail 2000 for 45 days.  After 30 days,
  235.    you will be reminded of the time remaining in 
  236.    your demonstration period every time you start
  237.    PMMail 2000.  After the end of the 45 day 
  238.    demonstration period, PMMail 2000 will no longer
  239.    perform networking functions, except for the 
  240.    ability to download your unlock code (if you
  241.    purchased PMMail 2000).

  243.       Purchasing a PMMail 2000 license grants you
  244.    permission to run one (1) copy of PMMail 2000
  245.    at a time.  You may install PMMail 2000 on your
  246.    laptop and desktop, but only one of them may be
  247.    running (i.e. they may not be running
  248.    simultaneously).

  250.       If you are running more than 1 copy of PMMail
  251.    at the same time on different computers you are
  252.    obligated to purchase a copy for each machine.

  254.       It is permissible to create and use multiple
  255.    accounts for different users on the same machine
  256.    provided that one of the accounts belong to a 
  257.    licensed user of the program and that no other
  258.    copies of the program are running on a different
  259.    computer at the same time.

  311.         - The *EXACT* steps in reproducing this bug.
  312.      Make sure that you can reproduce this bug before

  315.         - If there is a problem with a specific
  316.      e-mail message, send us the e-mail message
  317.      as an *ATTACHMENT*.  Do NOT forward or bounce
  318.      the message to us. The bug report will be
  319.      incomplete without this.  To find the e-mail
  320.      message, look under the PMMail 2000 root directory
  321.      and follow the directory structure into the
  322.      account (*.ACT subdirectory) it is in, and
  323.      then the folder (*.FLD subdirectory) it is in.
  324.      Take a look at the FOLDER.BAG file to obtain the
  325.      name of the e-mail message.  You can also
  326.      drag and drop the message to attach it to a note.
