-
- Welcome to PMMail 2000.
-
- This file contains valuable information regarding
- PMMail 2000, and additional information not included
- in the product documentation.
-
- This READ.ME file is divided into the following
- categories:

- PMMail 2000 system requirements
- ===================================================
-
- Software Requirements
- ---------------------
-
- - Windows 9x or NT (4.0 or later) with
- TCP/IP installed.
-
- Hardware Requirements
- ---------------------
-
- - Any machine capable of running
- Windows 9x or NT (4.0 or later).
- - 4MB of free disk space.
-
- =====================================================
- Using PMMail 2000 with PMMail for OS/2
- =====================================================
-
- If you are using PMMail 1.95 for OS/2 and
- would like to cross-grade to, or use PMMail for
- OS/2 in cooperation with, PMMail 2000, please
- read the following. If PMMail for OS/2 is
- installed on an HPFS partition and you are
- using Windows 95 or 98, you will need to copy
- the PMMail for OS/2 data and program files to
- a FAT partition. If you are using Windows NT
- there are ways to access HPFS partitions. You
- can find information about accessing HPFS
- partitions from Windows NT in the PMMail 2000
- FAQ on our web site (http://www.blueprintsoftwareworks.com).
- Once you can access your PMMail for OS/2 data,
- simply install PMMail 2000 to the same directory.
-
- NOTE: If you are running a version of PMMail/2
- earlier than version 1.95, you must install
- version 1.95 or higher under OS/2 and run it
- before running PMMail 2000 from the OS/2
- installation directory. This is because older
- releases of PMMail for OS/2 had platform specific
- formats which are automatically converted by
- 1.95 or later, the first time they are run.
-
- =====================================================
- Backing up your PMMail 2000 data
- =====================================================
-
- It is very important to periodically back up
- your PMMail 2000 data.
-
- If you wish to back up your PMMail 2000 data,
- there are a few things you should keep in mind.
-
- * To back up the data for an account, locate
- the account directory (ending in ".ACT") and
- copy it to your backup media.
- * To back up a single folder, locate the folder
- directory. A folder directory is located
- within the account directory of which the folder
- is a part. Folder directories always end in
- ".FLD". Once you have located this directory,
- copy it to your backup media.
- * To backup your address books and other related
- files, copy all of the files in the TOOLS
- directory. This directory belongs to the same
- parent directory as the PMMail 2000 directory.
- Copy all files and folders within the tools
- directory to your backup media with the
- exception of dictot.* and dipthong.*. These
- are dictionary files which are installed by
- PMMail 2000.
-
- To restore files from a backup, copy the files
- from your backup media into the directory from
- which you backed them up.
-

- Mailing list information
- =====================================================
-
- In the future, Blueprint Software Works will be setting up
- a public mailing list to allow PMMail 2000 users
- to discuss PMMail 2000, tips, tricks, problems, and
- general questions. Stay tuned to the PMMail 2000
- web page (http://www.blueprintsoftwareworks.com) for more
- information.
-
- =====================================================
- Migration from other mail clients
- =====================================================
-
- PMMail 2000 can migrate your e-mail data from
- several popular e-mail clients. These clients
- and notes about PMMail 2000's ability to migrate
- data from them are listed below.
-
- * Microsoft Internet Mail - You may migrate
- messages, folders, account information, and
- address books. Note that folders will lose
- their names as Microsoft stores these names in
- a proprietary file that PMMail 2000 cannot
- understand.
-
- * Microsoft Outlook Express - You may migrate
- messages, folders, account information, and
- address books. Note that folders will lose
- their names as Microsoft stores these names in
- a proprietary file that PMMail 2000 cannot
- understand.
-
- * Netscape Mail - You may migrate messages,
- folders, account information, and address
- books. A note to Netscape 2.02 users for OS/2:
- this migrator cannot auto detect the presence
- of your Netscape for OS/2 installation. You
- will need to use the "Add Mailer" option.
- When migrating Netscape for OS/2, account
- information cannot be migrated.
-
- * Netscape Messenger - You may migrate
- messages, folders, account information, but
- not address books. Netscape stores these
- addresses in a proprietary file that PMMail 2000
- cannot understand.
-
- * Qualcomm Eudora 3.0 and 4.0 - You may migrate
- messages, folders, account information, and
- address books.
-
- =====================================================
- Unique or easily missed features
- =====================================================
-
- PMMail 2000 contains many features that set
- it apart from other e-mail clients. Some of
- these features may not be blindingly apparent.
- Several of these features are listed below.
-
- * Clicking the right mouse button in an
- entryfield which is expecting an e-mail address
- will produce a popup menu with many addressing
- options.
- * Selecting a block of text in a message read
- window and clicking the right mouse button
- will produce a popup menu summarizing the web
- links and e-mail addresses contained in that
- block of text.
- * Manual use of canned replies. Once you have
- configured a few canned replies, they can be
- used in filters. Few people know that pressing
- the right mouse button in the body text area of
- a compose window will produce a popup menu with
- a list of your canned replies. Selecting one
- will insert the text of that canned reply in
- the message body.
- * The ability to create very complex filters
- using Blueprint Software Works's Internet Content Search
- Language (ICSL for short). You can find more
- information about this in the on-line help.
- * Our "Filter Builder" will assist you in creating
- filters. It is also a good tool to use to
- learn the ICSL.
- * The "Help" menu on the main screen provides a
- quick way to get to Blueprint Software Works's web site.
- * If you highlight text while reading a message
- and then hit reply, only the highlighted text
- will be quoted.
- * Drag and drop. You can use drag and drop to
- file your e-mail messages, move folders, attach
- files to messages, move addresses, and address
- messages (drag and drop an address onto an
- address list).
- * Context menus on attachments
- * When you get new mail, the PMMail 2000 tray icon
- will flash to indicate the presence of new mail.
- * Clicking with the right mouse button on the tray
- icon is very handy. When you have new mail, it
- will show a popup menu containing all of your
- new mail messages for quick reading. Anytime,
- whether you have new mail or not, you get a
- menu of all of your accounts with the option to
- fetch mail, create a new message, or open
- remote control.
-
- =====================================================

-
- =====================================================
- PMMail 2000 license information
- =====================================================
-
- You are permitted to use the demonstration
- version of PMMail 2000 for 45 days. After 30 days,
- you will be reminded of the time remaining in
- your demonstration period every time you start
- PMMail 2000. After the end of the 45 day
- demonstration period, PMMail 2000 will no longer
- perform networking functions, except for the
- ability to download your unlock code (if you
- purchased PMMail 2000).
-
- Purchasing a PMMail 2000 license grants you
- permission to run one (1) copy of PMMail 2000
- at a time. You may install PMMail 2000 on your
- laptop and desktop, but only one of them may be
- running (i.e. they may not be running
- simultaneously).
-
- If you are running more than 1 copy of PMMail
- at the same time on different computers you are
- obligated to purchase a copy for each machine.
-
- It is permissible to create and use multiple
- accounts for different users on the same machine
- provided that one of the accounts belong to a
- licensed user of the program and that no other
- copies of the program are running on a different
- computer at the same time.

- like to request:
-
- - Please understand that all feature
- requests get added to a feature database.
- We do not necessarily determine on the spot
